Midland Association for Amputees and Friends

The photograph is of our

President Mr W G Lambert and one of our founder  members Mrs Christine Massey with the User Group of Achievement award

This years winner of the User Group of Achievement Award has just celebrated it's 21st birthday, from the humble beginnings, this association has forged a great partnership with it's service users and in co-operation has grown to serve 5 counties.

This user group working along side hospital staff, has helped with the rehabilitation of many people, visiting new amputees both on the wards as well as in their homes, offering support and advice on a whole range of topics.

They also run, a full social calendar of events and meetings, this also includes outings where members are collected and returned home.

In collaboration with the prosthetists they have been fundamental in writing a new patient leaflet as well as producing a newsletter which is both informative and lively. They are also able to offer their users a information advice and form filling service backed up by answer phone machine and also e mail.

The organisation has seen the most remarkable expansion over the last two years, opening a new office to cater for the growing number of clients and has expanded its service to include an outreach service for a further three counties. If that was not enough this user group also runs training courses to help and encourage new volunteers to work in their local communities.

Our organisation was very proud to receive this award which belongs to all of our members who work so hard.
